Music Industry Destroyer or Savior?

Digital audio revolution in the early 1980s the music industry has changed drastically. Currently most of the sounds we hear a recording that has been transformed into electronic bits. They were milling about in cyberspace and is available for download - both legal and illegal - quickly.
The following are some of the phenomena recorded in the history of digital music. Did they destroy the music industry? Or is it save?
You decide.
MP3Karlheinz Brandenburg et al. has changed the music industry with audio compression system that they do, MPEG Audio Layer 3 (or more familiarly called MP3). Sized music files to be very slim and is familiar with many music players. But because of this reason, a piece of music to be more prone to being hijacked and exchanged without permission.
NapsterWhen first released in 1999, Napster application not see people. But after the music industry sued for violating copyright, then the popular Napster. Continuing power of MP3, Napster allows people to exchange files for free over the Internet.
iTunesApple's music player called iTunes manages to appear as a platform to get digital music legally (and paying). On the one hand, piracy on the Internet can be suppressed. But on the other hand, the music industry as consumers languish slowly forget about the physical album.
International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), a federation that houses the world's recording industry, reported sales of recorded music plummeted from about $ 26 billion (2000) to only $ 16 billion (2010).
RBTOften also called "caller tunes", this facility is also quite popular in many countries. With this facility the customers can hear a piece of music or specific sounds to replace the normal dial tone.
For users of cellular services in Indonesia, RBT was familiar. So ngetopnya, RBT in Indonesia can provide income to 90 percent of the music industry. No wonder when RBT was about to be removed following the case of suction pulses, many artists are protesting because their income depends on sales of RBT. Clearly, the physical album began to be ruled out by our artists and music industry.
Cloud on Google and Amazon MusicImagine that you have music files can be accessed anytime and anywhere via the Internet. This is the basis of service "cloud" given Google Music and Amazon. We store our music collection neatly in the cloud, and listened to it through an application that is embedded in our computers or gadgets.
Cloud also serves legal to purchase works of vast quantities of music. Global online music market of about 500 million people has become the main target of this service.
SpotifyThis service is not much different from the cloud, only she was more integrated with social media. Spotify is a major advantage (perhaps) is perkongsiannya with Facebook.
With the integration of these social media, Spotify is hoping to become a platform to share information about the music. According to the news, Spotify also stressed on the model of "playlists" which can be accessed anywhere via the Internet-and with a more flexible subscription model.
Buy new music albums or singles was no problem, because it has many labels are joining in this platform. They say we can subscribe to a song or playlist per month. Unfortunately, not yet available in Indonesia.
