Everton 'sorry' over club badge row

The club's Latin motto Nil Satis, Nisi Optimum - which means "nothing but the best is good enough" - and two wreaths have been removed from the new design.
The petition said fans would not buy merchandise bearing the "awful" crest and this would cost the club money.
Everton said it was "sorry" it had not properly consulted with fans.
However the Premier League club said the new badge would be used during the 2013/14 season.
The club said: "We regret we didn't ask every Evertonian about something that matters so much to every one of you."
But it said it remained "firm in the belief our crest should be modernised".
The motto was added to the club's crest in 1938, though it did not appear on a kit until 1978.
It was removed from the kit badges in 1982 but returned to the crest following a redesign in 1991.
'Countless discussions'
Comments on the petition described the new badge as "amateurish", "poorly designed", "ridiculous", "clownish" and "not fitting a club of Everton's rich history and stature".
Merchandise using the new design, which is the 10th version in the club's history, went on sale for the first time on Sunday.
The club said the fan reaction had prompted "several meetings and countless discussions".
Everton Fans' Forum, an "excellent and effective group of representative fans", was consulted on the badge redesign, but faced "too big a burden speaking for the entire fan-base on something so significant", the club said.
Robert Elstone, Everton's chief executive, said: "Our chairman had demanded widespread consultation and we stopped short of that.
"We talked to our Fans' Forum, our commercial partners and our experienced staff around the club. That was not enough."
He said the club would seek fans' views over its badge for the 2014/15 season, consulting with a panel "from all sections of the fan-base".
The club said Evertonians would "make the final decision".
Details on how the panel will be selected are expected later this year.

Mirko Vucinic booked for shorts-off celebration, not for the first time

We've long known that taking your shirt off in celebration of a goal is a bookable offence, but Mirko Vucinic has confirmed what you may well already have guessed - the punishment is the same if you take your shorts off.
The Juventus striker, who had earlier missed an open goal, was more than a little excited about scoring from the penalty spot to give his side a 72nd-minute lead in the Serie A match against Pescara.
He whipped off his shorts and swung them over his head, immediately earning a booking for what our friends at Infostrada have classified as 'unsporting behaviour'.
"It was spontaneous. I felt like it and I did it," Vucinic explained afterwards.
He stayed on the field, despite the disapproving reaction from coach Antonio Conte, and six minutes later he scored again, as the Italian league leaders sealed a 2-1 win at home.
Conte, though, was less than impressed after the match with the Montenegrin, appearing to clip him around the head when he celebrated the strike.
"It was an affectionate slap," claimed Vucinic.
Conte said: "I told Vucinic he had a terrible game and still scored two goals… Imagine what he would’ve done if he had played well.
"It’s important that he scored today and that bodes well for the Bayern match, even if I’m thinking of benching him."
But it's not his first time - here he is celebrating a goal for Montenegro against Wales in 2010. Some people never learn...

Russian side 'offered £205m for Messi'

Spanish sports daily El Mundo Deportivo reports that the club agreed to pay more than double the world record transfer fee, and offered the Argentine a €30m (£24.6m) annual pay packet after tax.
2012 Barcelona Lionel Messi
Once that sum was offered Barcelona were contractually obliged to accept it - but from that point it was up to the player whether he was interested in leaving the club.
The bid came during Messi's recent contract negotiations with Barcelona.
However, the 25-year-old rejected the move and signed a two-year extension with Barça that ties him to the Camp Nou until 2018.
Although the club was not named it is likely to have been Anzhi Makachkala, who are owned by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov.
In 2011 Anzhi signed former Barça striker Samuel Eto'o, making him the highest-paid player in world football.
El Mundo Deportivo said Messi rejected the Russian move because of his desire to continue winning titles at Barcelona.
He scored a record 91 goals in 2012 and is expected to win his fourth consecutive Ballon d'Or.
Neither is Messi short of cash - in March it was revealed he earns £27m per year, topping up his £13m salary with sponsorships and endorsements.
Every player in Spanish football must have a minimum fee release clause in their contract. Cristiano Ronaldo's is the highest, standing at €1bn

Arsenal ban handshakes from training ground

Arsenal have banned their players from shaking hands as they attempt to control a virus sweeping their training ground.
Manager Arsene Wenger has lost first-teamers Per Mertesacker, Thomas Vermaelen, Francis Coquelin and Theo Walcott and several staff members to illness.
And he has scrapped the club's rule of shaking hands before training each morning - a common ritual in French workplaces - telling the players to touch elbows instead.
The players have have been ordered not to staff members or visitors' hands, while the dressing rooms are being cleaned with an alcohol-based fluid as Wenger looks to stop the bug spreading.
Wenger said: "We have improved the level of hygiene in the dressing room. We clean everything.
"It is funny, but shaking hands is one of the biggest thing to spread virus."
He also joked that the virus might lead to more players snubbing each other in the Premier League's pre-match handshakes.
"It is a good excuse not to shake hands before the game," he said. "If you shake hands the viruses go around the league."
The Frenchman is not the first sports coach to outlaw handshakes.
Britain's Olympic cyclists were told to avoid physical contact with members of the public in a bid to ensure their health at London 2012.
The tactic appeared to work, as Team GB scooped eight cycling gold medals.

Arthur Irawan Dipuji Pelatih Kebugaran Espanyol

Arthur Irawan (Yahoo! Olahraga/Teresia May)
